Diamond Plate

Sidewalk snow removal; the tire imprint on the snow from the city's snowblower left an interesting pattern on the sidewalk. Even more interesting was the shading and snow paternes on the manhole cover.

Dashing Through The Snow

Hum or sing the Jingle Bells tune.

Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
etc, etc.

A Cup!

A paper cup left in the snow.
'Nuff said.

For September 14th

I spent the weekend splitting wood for the wood stoves for both the cabin and sauna. Actually this is a fun job, whacking the logs with the mall; it really is a great way to take out the frustrations from the workweek.

The wood needed to be split; I grabbed a nice sized birch log to split. While carrying it to the splitting stump, this little..er, no...big....no...huge critter scurried onto my hand. he made it up to my wrist! I dropped the log, (barely missing my foot), jumped around yelping like a little school child flinging him off from me. sadly, he ended up back on the wood pile where I took his photo. (Editor's note: No spider nor person was harmed in the making of this photo. The only thing harmed was my ego for screeching and jumping around like an little school child).

A place to relax and refresh after splitting all that wood, (and forgetting about the incident with Borris the Spider). 180 degrees F is how I enjoy the sauna. It's pronounced "sowna", not "sawna".

For August 31 - At the Fair

This week's entry for the 3 Photos a Week Challenge are pictures from the Minnesota State Fair.

Nothing can be better than cookies from Sweet Martha's cookie Shop. You can almost feel the pounds adding up! ;-)

In the Horticulture building where home grown flowers, fruits and vegetables are judged in cometition. Always a joy to see what has been grown.

After all the fun, food, and festivities, take a ride on the Giant Slide! Woohoo, we're having fun now!

August 17th

Spanning HWy 169, on our route to Caribou coffee, Buffalo Wild Wings, and The movie theater.
An evening at BWW, hot buffalo wings and ice cold refreshing adult beverages. The perfect finger food. Beer was refreshing.
The Mann Champlin 14 theater, 14 screens of cinema pleasure. We went to see the movie Ratatouille. A fun movie! Which we thoroughly enjoyed and recommend for kids of all ages, (even if you're post 40 like me).

August 10th

Scooter - As seen on 2nd Street South and Chicago Avenue South - in front of Guthrie Theater. Not a good mode of trasportation when you're wearing a suit and tie, or skirt and high heels to see a play. Plus the helmets create quite the bowlshaped hairdoo.

Night view across the Mississippi River from downtown Minneapolis toward St. Anthony Main.
Enchanting views of the Mill Ruins and Stone Arch Bridge on the Mississippi River.

August 3rd

Bright summer skies, a color palate of blue and green.

A nice place to rest, but sure looks uncomfortable.

Oy! Imagine the spider or caterpillar that built this web!

For July 20th

Time to say goodbye to our Twins. Doree did a fine job raising them while we had theprvilage of watching over them.
One of my favorites; 'purple coneflower'. A happy bright flower. I hope to have a field of these in a few years.

Big bright leaves, these leaves are a part of a large grouping in a container on our patio. THe bright colors caught my eye.

For July 13nth

Trolling out of the sunset, miles from home. And time to put on the lights. A fine evening for trolling Lake Vermilion. Walleyes were not cooperative, maybe next time.
Island shoreline. Amazing what the glaciers create millions of years ago.
The log cabin. Old island cabin on Lake Vermilion. Black and white gives this that nostalgic feeling.

For july 6th

For Friday July 6th submission to 3 Photos a Week Challenge. Five days ahead of time, but mid week is July 4th. So much to do with holiday feastivities, I'll be away from the PC until next week. Enjoy this series of 3.

Pulcinella, interior decor from the downtown Punch Pizza. Fabulous Neopolitan style pizza, just like the pizza we had in Piazza Navona, Rome. The Toscano pizza salad, and Punch salad was superb. Mirror - mirror, The reflection from this sign in front of Mill City Museum affords an amazing reflection. And the icon of Minneapolis; the Grain Belt Beer sign on Hennepin Ave. Today we walked 4.5 miles arounf this area of downtown. A dedicated Webshots album is now in the works. More later on that. Happy 4th of July!

For June 29

Garden clematis from our backyard. Jackmani I believe is the variety.
Stella D'Oro I'm thinking. I'm not well versed in the world of flowers. Mounring Dove nest in our deck planter. We named her Dorree. She enjoys our company and listening to the MN Twins on the radio. Must be why she has twin eggs.

For June 22

This Friday's entries; Orange blossom, Wavefalls, and the crescent moon. I already posted the cresent moon pic below, (I'll save you the trouble of uploading it again, see below), but I deemed it worthy enough for my Weshot's 3 Photos a Week Challenge. The flower is from our yard at the cabin on Lake Vermilion as is the wave photo. The waves were crashing onto the rocks near our dock, giving it that waterfall look.

June 15th

For June 15th, these are my latest 3 submissions. An evening of relaxing on the deck with an ice cold refreshing gin and tonic and my camera. The coppery butterfly caught my eye as well as the star shaped umbrella frame work. A geometrical star of sorts. Oh, and the tonic bubbles on the lime signaled to me, that more was needed....

For June 8

A day on the lake Lake Vermilion in northern Minnesota. Three scenes that caught my eye in between catching and releasing walleyes. Sorry, no walleye pics this time, maybe next time.
