Rose Windows at Saint Paul's Cathedral in St. Paul, Minnesota

The Resurrection Window is located in the choir loft the work of Charles J. Connick

The North Rose Window is the work of Charles J. Connick. Here are eight North American Martyrs surrounding Mary "Queen of Martyrs". John de Brebeuf, gabriel Lalemant, Rene goupil, Noel Chabanel, Charles Garnier, Anthony Daniel, Isaac Jogues, and Jean Lalande. They were French Jesuit Missionaries to Native Americans in Canada and New York State martyred in the 1640's.

The South Rose Window is located south in line with Selby Avenue, the work of Charles J. Connick. The theme is from the Beatitudes spoken by jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. Christ in the center is surrounded by eight saints of the new world. Clockwise from upper right; Rose of Lima (suffering), Toribio of Mogrovejo (peacemaking), Kateri Tekawitha (purity of heart), Francis Solano (mercy), Francis Xavier Cabrini (hunger and thirst for justice), Peter Claver (mourning), Rose Philippine Duchesne (meekness), and Martin de Porres (poverty of spirit)

The Basilica of St. Mary on Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis was built between 1907 and 1912. It is the first Basilica in the United States and dedicated in 1926 by Pope Pius XI. For more information, visit the Basilica of St. Mary.

Inside St. Chapelle

Today, we take a day tour inside Sainte Chapelle 4, boulevard du Palais, surrounded by Palais of Justice. The chapel was built by Louis IX in the 1240's to house relics from the Holy Land believed to be the Crown of Thorns and part of the True Cross.

You will not be disappointed by the ground level Lower Chapel with its brightly colored ceiling. Words can not describe the Upper Chapel, perhaps stunning stunning. There is simply too much stained glass to take it all in. Although the wide angle on my lens is 17mm, (Rebel XTi crop factor of 1.6), I regret not having a 10-22mm wide angle lens. Maybe another trip.

Cathedral Notre Dame de Paris

Red Brick Church

St John the Baptist, standing between the steeples.

The Parish dates back to 1857 in a log cabin. In 1904, this Gothic "Cruciform" in style church was built.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dayton, MN on a wintery day. Such a pretty church that can be seen for some distances. The bell tower is 150 feet high with a 13 foot tall cross, the belfry is 96 feet hight with a 7 foot tall cross.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church is located Near Riverplace and Hennepin Ave. in Minneapolis. A picturesque gated side entry.

Blue Doors

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Completed in 1857 in Greek temple style by the First Universalist Society. Later purchased by Catholic French Canadian community in 1877. Rebuilt from limestone in 1881.
