The Dragonfly

Have you ever tried to get a shot of one of these over caffeinated dragonflys? It isn't easy. They flit and zip around from one twig to another plant. I finally got one good shot after chasing this bugger around with the enthusiasm of a little school child.

Yup, I know the feeling very well. But we do not have dragonflies like the one in the photo. It looks liked it has been cross bred with a wasp.

  4. Excellent macro! I'm still trying to convince my daughters that dragon flies are not out to sting them.

In May, I did the same thing following one around until I finally got a good shot!

  6. wow, Dusty, I love this shot! Oh yes, just recently while on a short vacation at the beach, I was trying to get a good shot of the dragonflies, flying all around the natural grass and wild flower area. It wasn't until I went out to the parking lot that I found one on the tire of my car....later I realized he was using the tire as his death bed...poor little fellow.

RogerB, tell your daughters I used to think they stung too! : )

  13. Oh that is lovely! The lady doing my flowers at my wedding found out I'd put dragonflies on the invites and put little life-like dragonflies in all the flower arrangements. They looked just like that! Of course, we got lots of photos of those ones!!
