Thrifty

The Warehouse District in Minneapolis has undergone many changes over the years. Located near the new Twins baseball stadium, I am sure this building will be leveled.

A lesson in cropping. Mark at Highton-Ridley suggested i relook at cropping this photo. The yellow brick in the first image really does nothing for the image, except detract from it. At the time I shot the image, I was thinking how the newer yellow brick was in contrast with the older blue bricks. A new/old theme was on my mind. We need to take a moment and rethink our images and the story we wish to convey. Sometimes less is more. Thanks, Mark.

What a shame it's being levelled, I love these old painted adverts.

Out with the old and in with the new intended to look like the old.

Well seen DL - love the way that, by making this bright and cheerful in your treatment of the light, you've breathed a last gasp of life into the scene.

btw - I slid the browser window off-screen to the left and when the lh patch of bright new brick is cropped off, it makes the image take on an entirely different feel.

To me, it then throws the attention right on to that window with its interesting texture and intriguing hole, the eye also being helped to that point with the lead-in provided by the lines of text.

I think in doing so it builds questions and maybe the start of a story in the viewer's mind. 'Would you be able to see the ovens? What wonderful smells would waft out of that window?' ...that sort of thing.

All imho, of course - may bear no equivalence to the reality that other folks experience!

Too bad for the fact that it's going to be erased... I love "ghost signs." It's often a good example of a good Ad.

Bold colours and a nice old sign, it'll be a shame if it is flattened.
