A bench in the woods.
The bench, a place to relax and visit for a moment. We take these outdoor furnishings for granted not really noticing the designs and styles we view on a daily basis. To see more benches stop by and visit this blog;

Summertime Blues

Banded clouds over Lake Vermilion. Summertime Blues.
On a photo shoot for an evening sunset. Setting up the tripod, I happened to look eastward and decided this was worthy of a shot. The intense blue sky and clouds reflect on the lake surface.
Close by, a lone loon breaks the silence with a mournful song. The answer is met from across the lake. They keep up this Loon Serenade bidding each other a pleasant night.
I have captured a quick moment of their serenade to each other.

The BBQ

GRILLING RULES:
We are about to enter the summer grilling season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity, as it's the only type of cooking a 'real' man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved. When a man volunteers to do the cooking the following chain of events are put into motion:
Routine...
(1) The woman buys the food.
(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - drink in hand.
Here comes the important part:
(4) The man places the meat on the grill.
More routine....
(5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring an other drink while he deals with the situation.
Important again:
(7) The man takes the meat off the grill and hands it to the woman.
More routine....
(8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.
(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
And most important of all:
(10) Everyone praises the man thanks him for his cooking efforts.
(11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed 'her night off.'
And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women....

Enjoy your weekend with a little BBQ grilling humor.

Beer and BBQ go so well together.
Sirloins, Asparagus, Vidallia Onions, Red and Yellow Bell Peppers drizzled with olive oil, sea salt and minced garlic with a pair of goblets of Secco-Bertani Valpolicella Valpantena Ripasso; its whats for dinner.

Mother Goose

Talk to me goose!

Old Mother Goose,
When she wanted to wander,
Would ride through the air
On a very fine gander.
Jack's mother came in,
And caught the goose soon,
And mounting its back,
Flew up to the moon.

Evergreen Drapes

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
Fra la la la la....Christmas in June?
Although I like the brightness of this photo, it is too overexposed. Of course cropping would take care of this problem. I left it uncropped to show the upper edge overexposed and burned out in bright white. It doesn't help that the sky was brightly overcast in white/grey tones.
A good lesson to learn from this photo is to remember to preview your images, which i neglected here. If I had, I would have seen the bright white ares blinking as glowing beacons in preview mode, indicating over exposure. A good tip, preview and check to see if you get Blinkey the overexposure goblin. Take corrective measures, change the settings and reshoot. Histograms are another good way of checking for over / under exposures.

Stormy Weather

Stormy Weather - Billie Holiday

"Stormy Weather"
Dont know why theres no sun up in the sky
Stormy weather
Since my man and I aint together,
Keeps rainin all the time
Life is bare, gloom and misry everywhere
Stormy weather
Just cant get my poorself together,
Im weary all the time
So weary all the time
When he went away the blues walked in and met me.
If he stays away old rockin chair will get me.
All I do is pray the lord above will let me walk in the sun once more.
Cant go on, evry thing I had is gone
Stormy weather
Since my man and I aint together,
Keeps rainin all the time
.
as sung by Billie Holiday

Fountain top.
Yes, we are still at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. I was there with Mitch from Mitchster.com, Matt and Bob. I lost my cheat sheet to incorporate html links. Check their blogs out of my Minnesota Photo Blog listing. There is so much to see at the arboretum, so much to photograph, so much to take in. I hope to retrun on another trip when the rose garden is in full bloom. I hope you enjoy my scenes from the MN Landscape Arboretum.

2 Things Challenge is Symmetrical / Abstract

This week's 2 Things Challenge is Symmetrical / Abstract. A 2 for 1 special, 1 photo to cover both themes. I was uninspired this week sitting here at the 'puter thinking ahead for this week's 2 Things post. I must have snapped off 32 photos before I tilt aimed at the window in our office.

Inside St. Chapelle

Today, we take a day tour inside Sainte Chapelle 4, boulevard du Palais, surrounded by Palais of Justice. The chapel was built by Louis IX in the 1240's to house relics from the Holy Land believed to be the Crown of Thorns and part of the True Cross.
You will not be disappointed by the ground level Lower Chapel with its brightly colored ceiling. Words can not describe the Upper Chapel, perhaps stunning stunning. There is simply too much stained glass to take it all in. Although the wide angle on my lens is 17mm, (Rebel XTi crop factor of 1.6), I regret not having a 10-22mm wide angle lens. Maybe another trip.
For more information about this chapel, please see this site,
