Ice sculpture competition at Rice Park in St. Paul, Minnesota.
In the depths of January, winter can be brutal. Cabin fever sets in. The remedy, a winter carnival! There, now don't you feel warmer than the -4 F (-19 C) temperatures?

une vrai œuvre d'art, c'est magnifique et puis cela donne envie d'aller se reposer dans le hamac ;o) belle photo.
ReplyDeletea true work of art is beautiful and then it makes you want to go relax in the hammock o) beautiful picture.
Wonderful winter wonder land.
ReplyDeleteBut -19, your all mad.
A nice gesture, but did anybody brave the brutal temps to go? :-) The look on that totem says it all!
ReplyDeleteYou really caught those colors nice.
ReplyDeletenice frozen scene, thumbs up ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this shot!!
ReplyDeleteHow clever! Palm trees out of ice. I too wonder if anyone braved the temps besides your group of intrepid photographers????
ReplyDeleteI am not sure (if I am feeling warmer) but if you say it...
ReplyDeleteGreat shot!
This made me smile! However, I do still prefer the real palms over the ice ones.
ReplyDeleteHi there! I haven't posted or commented for a few days, but I just posted from a photo I took this morning. Just now I decided to check the portal and had to laugh when I saw yours. Come to my blog to see Obama!!
ReplyDeleteI was telling Kate that I like ice sculpture and when I was in Japan, in February, the city of Sapporo, Japan has their annual ice scuptures and I have been inside some of their large buildings carved out of ice and snow. Something amazing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the brilliant Chihuly. Coming from the desert where we clearly do not have ice sculptures and would not even know how to create such a work of art. I did go to the -5 ice bar in Queensland, New Zealand in December and it had wonderful ice sculptures also we drank our drinks out of ice and my hands were frozen. I have too thin of blood for cold weather.
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow! That one sure is elaborate! I wouldn't want to be napping in that hammock...
