Emergency Use Only

Lake Calhoun beach. Obviously this is for summer use. Or winter use in case someone breaks through the ice?

  8. This is a winter ice board. The city puts these up around the lakes in the fall before the ice forms. If you see someone fall through the ice, you can grab one of these. Go as close as you can to the person and slide the board to them while you hold the rope. The board floats and the bright rope is so they can grab on. Once they are holding on, you pull on the rope to get them out. Hopefully you can get help.

That's what the board is for! I look forward to your photos from our adventure yesterday!
