Number 19
Last week, Mitch and I wandered around the Father Hennepin Bluffs Park area in Minneapolis. What a delight to find these treasures. Or, as I like to call them, "rusty crap". I was on a mission to find items to fit this bill and was not disappointed.
The weakest link
I do not quite understand this chain. Such heavy links, yet a weak link connector. I wonder what happened in the chain forging facility. Was this made late on a Friday or early on a Monday? Check Mitchster's post for his version of rusty crap, it's beautiful.
"You are the weakest link, goodbye". Does anyone remember the game show where this quote was made famous? First one to guess gets the virtual rusty crap award.
great photos and I have often picked up rusty crap to keep or hang on a wall or do something with. I find these metal pieces interesting because of their strength but then weakness with rust. they generally have travelled a long ways to get rusty so each has a story.
ReplyDeleteVery nice details. Rust really makes for good close ups:-)
ReplyDeletesuperbe, on peut toucher la rouille. Je sais pas comment tu fais (beaucoup de jeux sur la netteté je pense) mais cela rend vraiment très bien
ReplyDeletehaughtiness, they can touch the rust. I know not how you make (a lot of games on neatness I think) but it is really very well
Beautiful rusty shot ;) i remember quiet well the TV show because we had a french version !! There is always a weak link somewhere ...

That show "The Weakest Link" was so good. I wish it was still current. That stone-faced lady was funny! Nice rusty shot. I find it amazing in photography. THe dirtier and grittier the subject, sometimes the cooler the shot turns out. Like a beautiful couple against a filthy old wall always turns out so nice.
ReplyDeletehey! I almost did my own rusty crap yesterday with a similar in/out of focus layout. Nice!
ReplyDeleteSerious pictures today! I have never seen the show...
ReplyDeleteThese shots are great! I remember that line and watching the show, but I can't for the life of me remember the actual show! Must be getting old...
ReplyDeleteHi Dusty, cool photos great colours, you sure your new to photography lol.
ReplyDeleteI particularly loved the first shot. The detail and sharpness is amazing!
ReplyDeleteGood old Anne Robinson and the Weakest Link! It is on everyday here and has been for years. The best ones are the 'Z' list "celebrity" specials. She just rips them apart! Lol!
ReplyDeleteI like your rusty crap :)
Dusty Lens, Rusty Crap - Clever. I have always been quite smug about the fact that I was commenting in your images when you were a hidden gem. If you haven't already you might want to try enetering a few competitions and maybe tendering images for sale. You get better each week. Outsandig image.
ReplyDeleteYou asked about what I used for my 'tilt shift' photos....I used this web site actually and not any software I own. The results were better than I had expected: http://tiltshiftmaker.com/
ReplyDeleteThat's "rustic" crap, DL! Nice DOP work, and I'm sure that's some government work. Hah!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful, I love the rust color!!
ReplyDeleteNot always the chain is brocken by the neakest link..
