Hi V, this is not an HDR image. Using Lightroom, I increase the Recovery, Fill Light, Contrast, Clarity, and Vibrance Sliders to +100%. I also use the Strong Contrast on the curves section and increase the blacks slider to 15 to 25%. Then I back off on the Saturation slider to the negative value; -75 in this photo.
Next in Lightroom is to use the graduated filter for the sky and decrease the exposure to make the clouds pop out.
Then I convert the image to grayscale in Lightroom and convert and save this RAW file to JPG. In Elements, I then tweak the shadows, highlights, midtone contrast get the image I'm after.
I almost expect to see a dragon pop up from behind the building. Amazing shot DL.
ReplyDeleteThe looks really cool. It kind of reminds me of an illustration in an old book.
ReplyDeleteThat style with the fairly massive stone work could also be in the industrial north in England, Manchester or Liverpool.
ReplyDeleteWow ,this is impressive , is it the Adam's family home ? :)
ReplyDeleteAn imposing pile and sharp as a needle.
ReplyDeleteJohn is quite correct.
That is really neat. Just a little tiny bit of modern in the background.
ReplyDeleteThat is a GREAT photograph with a touch of seriously creepy to it. Is there HDR used here? or is it all just a Monochrome effect? Very cool.
ReplyDeleteBlimey DL! That is dramatic!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, is ithis HDR? I don't know much about it but Bob Crowe uses it from time to time. Just curious.

Very cool. The soft clouds really contrast with the sharp detailed stonework.
