full Moon

Saturday night I was enjoying some refreshing adult beverages on the backyard deck. To the east was the full moon rising, to the west above my neighbor's house was The Big Dipper constellation. I couldn't pass this up to try to capture each. I spent 45 minutes taking 50 some images trying to get a good image of the full moon and big dipper.
These are the best result for each. I had to increase the contrast in post processing, and even darken the image a touch.

I was taken by that moon too. Pretty good pics by comparison to anything I've ever tried to take!

I wanted to try the same thing, but the clouds quickly hid the moon. Didnt get to see the big dipper. I love both of your shots.

Couldn't open the second photo, but the first is wonderful! My small digital camera has never been able to pick up night images such as the mood you posted. Very nice!

Kate, hang on it will finally load. Actually, I think it loaded and I didn't see the stars at first. Really cool DL. Adult beverages on the deck with this up above. Doesn't get much better does it.

Very cool moon photo! I too was enjoying the evening outdoors Saturday evening. There were multiple times throughout the night that the moon came into the conversation. It was so neat to see (maybe the adult beverages helped my awe and inspiration)!

They've worked quite well, next time we ever have a clear sky I'll give it a try.

I'm just popping by to say hello from South Shields Daily Photo.

As well as photography I'm also interested in learning how to produce digital artwork,

that's why I have started South Shields Pixels, you may be interested in having a quick look.

Oh these are wondeful shots. Moons can be so tricky. This is perfect.

BTW, I briefly saw this wonderful moon last night as I was driving home. It came out from behind the clouds for a bit, then disappeared again. Later we had great lightning!

No way! How did you get the big dipper??!!! Thanks for posting the settings - I've only been able to get the moon like that (ok just close to that) at twilight. I'll try some more.
