Titanium City

Not quite the Emerald City, but this look gives Minneapolis a Titanium look. Truth to the matter is I took the camera's metering as gospel. After I took the shot, I continued on. Sadly, I wish I would have previewed the image. I would have found out it was metered too bright. I spent time in Photoshop to bring out the details to save this image from being deleted. More of an artsy look. That's the joy of digital, you can save some photos otherwise to be deleted.

  1. Is this HDR? If it is, props on staying away from the cartoon-y look. If not, EXTRA props on the post-processing. I love the preservation of color and contrast in the reflection! I've heard tons of horror stores about the cold in Minneapolis. Is it true? And thanks for the comment

  2. Proper exposure metering is one of things I need to get better at, so I can appreciate your dismay at discovering a problem. You did a good job with it...like Kane said: "props". Never heard that word used as kudos before.

  3. I think I like the wavy effect on the water best. I get irritated with those weird power pole things in the downtown shots that we can't avoid. That upside down u-shaped thing, know what I mean? SO hard to get a good skyline without that thing in it!!
Have a great weekend. State Fair??

This photo is great. I don't know how you saved i but i'd like to. My Elements is not doing me much good right now since I am just learning.

  6. So you made lemonade out of digital lemons, good save. What I like about learning digital photography is the possibilty of second chance and the serendipity that goes with it. I like the smear of colors in the reflections. My theory is the Emerald City looked so good because you had to cross that field of poppies first.

  9. That's right, that is because Seattle is the Emerald City and don't you forget it! ;-)

I really like this shot with the reflections and the wires going across the sky. You managed to resurrect it very well!
